Although I have received some queries in past regarding makeup and all but never posted here and mailed the person personally but very easily after solving the query reader asked me “HOW do I manage to buy this much stuff” so I can easily understandnd that query was not genuine and might be a bad trick playedon me …. not might be but yeahh I am sure
but today a close friend sent me this and I thought of sharing the concern with you … pls pour in your suggestions

International online ordering is so alluring and tempting but it is all a mirage.The reality is very harsh and unnerving and much much more depressing than one could think of.One of the bad emotions that release in a human mind are due to “waiting” for something or someone to come.Waiting brings in anxiety, sadness, grief and also stress and stress related disorders and diseases.
We put in money to get what we desire, pay immense amount of shipping charges so that whatever we desire reaches safely to us and at the end of everything we are at a loss that is monetary as well as emotional as we dont end up getting what we wanted.
Same thing happened with when I used my precious credit card for the first time in my life to do an online order which was not from strawberrynet.com who are very supportive in case of product losses as they re-send or refund the money.Here is my story…
1. Essence of Beauty Brushes from E-bay worth $10 + $5 shipping…………purchased on 22nd Nov but havent received till today.
2. Sigma Makeup Brushes worth $25 purchased when they had free international shipping for Black Friday on 27th Nov but havent received it till now.
3. Coastal scents brushes of $14 + $5 shipping purchased on 27th Nov and havent received still…
All these payments were made through Paypal so there are chances of getting some refunds back if these people dont pay.There is a lot of money involved when converted in Rupees and it is a great loss.
I contacted Sigma Beauty but they have not responded and I have to still talk to Coastal Scents people.E-bay has been really helpful and refunded half of my money.
I got this Reader Concern PLEASE Share in your suggestions .. what to do ?? where to start ??

Strawberrynet is a very well known retailer. I recommend your friend contact them and explain that the package is missing. I purchase a lot of my stuff online – from skincare to clothing – because there’s more variety online. I always get my packages. There was once a package took about a month to arrive – but that was the worst of it. The trick is to always purchase from well known online stores and from E-Bay “Top-Rated Sellers”. These people are very concerned about customer satisfaction and will usually figure out a solution.
A last resort is to always pick shipping with tracking – this is a bit more pricey but can help with peace of mind. I always buy packages in small amounts so that even if I do end up losing them (hopefully never), they won’t be worth that much. I try not to make a huge purchase with everything I ever wanted in that one shipment. Kind of like not putting all your eggs into one basket, if that makes any sense?

Hm, I don’t think the other reader played a trick on you though – I think it’s a combination of envy, surprise, and awe. When we look at somebody’s makeup collection – some people will like what that person has, appreciate it and kind of imagine how much time and consideration went into picking the collection – or some people will think “If only I had the money to invest in all that” and other people will think “Gosh, what a waste of money”. Maybe it’s just a reaction to what you have.
That’s why, like I’ve mentioned before, nobody gets a makeup collection overnight. It takes time and effort and a lot of love and passion to slowly accumulate them, na?
I think you have a wonderful collection that reflects your identity and eye for colour combinations.

Totally agree with you, it takes time, effort and money to get a makeup collection! I have had some of my MAC brushes for 10 years now!

Agree with you guys here. Collections don’t get built in a day. It takes time and passion to build an enviable collection.

I totally agree with you and the truth is the online purchasing is different for every individual. It def. takes a lot of research to ensure authentic sellers who will give you good service.
We can do our bit to help by sharing our experiences online shopping for makeup. We can def. put out information regarding different websites and maybe even build a database of good companies to deal with, online.
I have also been in the same boat and worried about paying for something online but luckily I had good expereinces. I purchased makeup twice from http://www.makeupgeek.com. Both times, I received my packages in good time. Everything was securely packed. I even emailed them a query regarding on of the brushes they had sent me and I got a response within 24 hours! So I would rate their service, packaging and quickness of delivery at 100%.

I am facing the same problem with Sigma.. I purchased close to $100 worth of brushes which were shipped on 29.11.10 however have not reached me till date. On contacting Sigma they told me to wait as the post to India take 13-30 Working Days. So I am waiting a few more days & the holiday post usually gets delayed. Keeping my fingers crossed.

most of the sites are delayin coz of christmas n new year…ebay wud get refunded n all frm pay pal so u need not worry..i thnk 15 more days u need to wait na..hope u get dem..

Online shopping is risky, especially when you opt for shipping without tracking. But thankfully I haven’t had any bad experiences. And it’s important to have patience. Especially during this holiday season. There’s a lot of mail traffic and bad weather has caused a lot of flights to be cancelled, which means your package might take a little longer.
But, when you’re shopping online, make sure you check their returns and refund policy. A lot of company’s don’t take responsibility for missing shipments. Stay clear of those.
The coastal scents people are very cooperative. I had ordered $40 worth of brushes from them which went missing. They were very prompt with their replies when I mailed them and gave me the option of either a refund or reshipping. So, don’t worry about that. You’ll definitely not lose your money.
I’ve never ordered from Sigma or Ebay. But with Ebay, it’s important to buy only from the top-rated sellers. And before you buy, mail the seller and inquire about his returns policy and what actions they would take in case of missing packages. If they say they’ll refund, they have to. They are very concerned about customer satisfaction. And you can always complain to Ebay as a last resort. But most times, it can be resolved with the seller itself.

the same thing has happened with my cherrry culture order…..i ordered on 1st novemeber, have not got the package till date. They say the stock is stuck at customs, but usually when something is stuck at customs, the custom office mails the person asking him to come collect it. no such thing has happened. Im at a loss about what to do because its been 2 months and no package.
The only thing u can do is hound the company contact again and again…
these problems arise when you order around Christmas/ halloween time and USPS is working overtime….i a=ordered from joys store on ebay as well- a place which has gotten a 100% positive feedback…even that pakcage is yet to arrive….

If items were ordered in the end of November, and have not been received yet, I wouldn’t start worrying just yet. This time of year the mail is slower than usual, and I’m quite sure it’ll arrive pretty soon.
When you order online you have to be prepared to wait. Sometimes it takes a week, sometimes two weeks, sometimes a month or more. That’s just how the post works.

I purchased MAC cosmetics from strawberrynet last month and their order status shows me they have shipped it already. As yet, I havent received it and when I called them in HK they said it has already left for the destination and thats all they can do.
They also told me to enquire at local post office which I dont have the tracking number for.The only tracking number I have is the HK one. Am really in a mess and dissappointed.

Well, there’s something called good stress. And waiting for your package is half the fun of buying. When I go out shopping, by the time I’m back home and tried it on, I’ve already lost interest in it.
I have been a regular buyer and seller on eBay for a while now and have only lost a very tiny percentage of my packages. If you haven’t received your order, you should be able to get all your money back through Paypal unless the seller has run away.
