MAC Lip Erase is described as A flesh-toned balm that visually neutralizes and erases natural color from the lip. Shine- and texture-free. Available in a choice of two shades for use on light to medium skin tones.

I picked this long back ( in April I guess ) and used this enough to give you better idea , as the product is little pricey I made sure to use this properly and then share my two cents .

LIP ERASE is Pro Product by MAC , and when I read Pro Stuff a novice like me jump with joy and assume that I will be able to use even if am new to this colorful world … I still maintain am learning and not a PRO . If you find this review misleading please think twice before making any conclusion and hey I just said AM NOT A PRO .

Coming back to the review , LIP ERASE is used to neutralize lip color hence provides a clean base to apply lipstick if you have pigmented lips , the color shows up more true to what you see in tube . I never knew my lips are not in great shape but some or the other incidence made me realize and my trusted MAC MUA explained me in detail about my lip color discoloration .

DIM is flesh toned not so creamy balm which is best suited for medium to dark skin tone , the other variant is meant for fair to medium skin tone . It does makes the lip color stay little longer as it is dry the lip color sticks little more longer .

The texture of LIP ERASE is very light weight but dry and is advised to be used in thin layer ( dab dab dab ) and needs to be dried for a min or two and then you apply lipstick with lip brush or directly from tube .

The best part is – it sets nicely on my lips as the texture is not runny / creamy and when I apply lipstick I don’t notice any traces of lip erase on my lipstick . It doesn’t transfers to your lip product and sticks nicely to lips and you get the actual color of lip color on your lips .

IF you say this kind of result can be seen with concealer too , one thing which makes all the difference is – Concealers are very creamy and hence doesn’t stick to lips whereas this is little dry but still light weight and adheres to lips and evens out the color .

They claim that it is a lip balm however I don’t feel the same , it is drying but this is what makes the original lip color neutral , I advice you to exfoliate your lips before using this as it is drying in texture .

It is housed in small round plastic jar which is prone to dust , so make sure to keep it safely and close the lid tightly , very little product is required and hence am sure it will last me for another year or two . It is included in Back 2 MAC .

My lips are pretty okay ( IMO ) but are little dark from outer corners and hence the lip color looks uneven and changes the color if I apply them on bare lips . The color I see in tube is hard to get due to two tones of my lips . With LIP ERASE am actually able to get the colors accurately but it is con sometimes , Example :

IF certain color is too light for me , due to my pigmented lips it is more wearable but with lip erase it will look little too light ( can be seen in pictures here with MAC Watch me Simmer Lipstick ) .

IF a color is too bright ( recently tried with MAC MORANGE ) the color when used over Lip Erase looks wearable whereas without lip erase it was too stark for my NC 40 skin tone .

One thing I noticed is , once the lipstick fades the tint we usually get from most of the lip colors is not seen when you have lip erase underneath , instead you see a pale yellow color and am not a fond of that look . A con or not am not sure .

I am still on a fence , if I love this stuff or this is not a must have , for me – shelling 1400/- INR when I could have managed to look decent without this is a big point before recommending this to my readers . I am blogging for past 2 years and none of my readers or fellow blogger or friends pointed out for my natural lip color discoloration however when a MUA notice my lip color closely , they do point out and I agree with them , therefore I purchased this , it is okay for me for some lip colors which makes my 2 tone lips more prominent in close up pics and is working for me not to forget  .

Texture wise it is great , better then a concealer or any other stuff , do try out if you have visible pigmented lips but as I always say , do try the stuff 2 – 3 – 4 times , take pics , see how long it stays , how it looks after it fades and in this case too I suggest the same thing . It is great stuff but make sure if you need this immediately …. try with lip colors you find make your lip color discoloration more visible .
