L’oreal Caresse Wet Shine Stain vs L’oreal Shine Caresse : Review and LOTD

loreal caress lip gloss

L’Oreal recently launched shine caresse in Indian market and I was looking closely at overall reviews around and here is my take on the product. I have 2 versions to show you here which I picked from Snap deal and Health and glow respectively. These are said to be dupe for YSL GLOSSY STAINS which am totally addicted to and you have seen them quite frequently here. The Indian version which is in shade – MILADY , leave aside YSL it is not even dupe for the one I bought from Snap deal – Infinite Fuchsia and here is why ?

Discover a stain that thinks it’s a gloss. Now hydration & shine meet lasting, lightweight color. Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain combines the power of a lip stain with lip-gloss luster. This next generation lip stain, formulated with a blend of light hydrating oils & concentrated pigments, delivers lasting color with a glossy finish. Packed with 30% water, Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stain leaves lips soft, comfortable and hydrated for up to 6 hours.

Lipstain Power: Fresh color feels barely there
Lipgloss Shine: Lacquer shine + Non-Sticky feel
Caring Color: 6HR continuous hydration

INFINITE FUCHSIA ( 735/- INR or $ 10 , available in 12 shades ) is deep cool toned berry pink shade which needs two layers to get opaque finish , in pictures below you can see how it looks with one layer , two layer and then on top of MAC Lipstick in FILM NOIR . They are easy to apply and feel like water at first but then the consistency thickens and colour also deepens. I get 4 – 5 hrs wear with this and it fades nicely but not as good as YSL ones.

It gets sticky after a while and fades little unevenly if my lips are not in good shape which looks so gross for a colour like this. I have one more which is orange shade and that is beautiful and little different from this. They are not meant for dry lips and needs a little prep and prime beforehand.

These are MADE IN USA and are good option if you are looking for stains and not ready to shell 2200/- on YSL (MADE IN FRANCE), not comparable but still good option.

Ratings – 6/10 , Okay for the price but not at all comparative to YSL glossy stains , looks good in one layer and on top of lipstick , on its own with one layer it is sheer and with two it is slightly tacky .

On top of MAC FILM NOIR Lipstick :

MILADY (499/- Available in 8 shades) The Indian Version is lilac shade with super fine shimmer and needs a lot of layering and hence is tackier over the time. I get 2 -3 hrs of wear with this and it is super sticky as the time pass. The quality is very poor and nowhere near the Infinite fuchsia had I shared above.

This is MADE IN CHINE and not at all comparative to YSL GLOSSY STAINS, no matter the price is 1/4th but the quality is not even 1 % close to YSL and even the LOREAL Glam shine which still are manageable. I saw these on some Australian blogs but nowhere they mentioned the manufacturing , I hope we are not the ones who are getting “ Made in Chine “ stuff , it is a policy of L’Oreal in general and I have seen this with some other products as well .

The packaging you can see is identical, sleek golden tube with tear drop applicator and transparent window in the middle to identify the gloss shade, the cap shuts with a twist.

Ratings – 4/10, Needs a lot of layering with this shade and it gets sticky over the time, not at all long staying.

I actually find the loreal ones to be quite good. I mean, there is probably a difference in quality like you said. The only thing I don’t like about these are how they fade on to lips and maybe don’t last too long. Thanks for the honest review – the lilac one looks HORRIBLE to say the least. I have the equivalent to it, LIlac ever after and its quality seems much better.

You saved my money Rashmi. I was really looking forward to trying one of these real soon but not now. And I don’t understand why L’Oreal couldn’t launch the same thing here. :/ Their products are anyways highly priced and people wouldn’t have noticed if they had kept the price a hundred or 200 more. :X Loved the comparision. 🙂

That’s an amazing review Rashmi…I got one too, and my thoughts slightly differ from yours. I have not tried YSL Glossy stains so I wouldn’t even dare to compare, but on it’s own, I quite like the product. Alas! the ones that are available here are the made in China versions. I guess that quite explains the price point too.
